Home » Football NewsGMC All-League SlectionsNovember 19, 2012 Hamilton High SchoolThe 2012 GMC All-League selections were announced to the public this past weekend. Hamilton was represented with five athletes being selected to the teams.
Marcus Oliver was named the conference Defensive player of the year. Marcus is the second Hamilton football player to earned this award, Denicos Allen was named the player of the year in 2008. Marcus led Hamilton with 135 tackles this past season, as well as having 4 force fumles and 4 fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a TD. Marcus recorded 10 tackle for loses and had 2 sacks. As well as his defensive effort, he accumulated some impressive stats on offense. He rushed for 587 yards on 72 carries, with an average on 8.2 yards per carry and had 6 touchdowns. The 8.2 yards per carry breaks a school record that was held by Mike Myers during the 1997 season, of 7.9 yards per carry. Joining Marcus as a first team selection was Senior center Robbie Parker and Junior Wide Receiver Tyler Denton. Robbie ends his career as a four year all conference selection, twice being named to the first team and twice to the second team. Robbie has started 41 games in his career at Hamilton High School. Tyler is a first time selection to the all conference team. Tyler led the GMC in receiving yards with 634 yards and receptions with 35. The 35 receptions is also a school record. Tyler also broke records this for most yards in a single game, 172 yards and longest TD reception pass 90 yard reception from Zach Keene.
Second team selections were Senior lineman Ben Flick and Senior kicker/punter AJ Morrison. Ben was a three year starter on the offensive line at tackle. Ben will be attending the University of Cincinnati of a football scholarship. AJ has been the varsity kicker for the pass three season and took over the punting duties during week 3 of the season. 42% of AJ kickoffs this year resulted in touchbacks and he had a lond field goal of 47 yards against Milford.
