DECA Club recruits students for membership

DECA, a nationally recognized organization within Frederick Douglass High School is now accepting members. The program promotes career readiness in the fields of hospitality, finance, entrepreneurship, and marketing.
“ DECA helps students apply classroom theory to real life situations,“ DECA advisor Mrs. Washington said.
The cost to join the organization is $16. Members of the program are encouraged to compete in the local and national competitions held yearly. While in the program students will have the opportunity to become leaders in their community while networking with business owners. Students who decide to join will participate in multiple activities. There are events with the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Hawks. Meetings of state DECA members will be held through out the year as well.
“ I think DECA brings a lot of opportunity, and it betters me as a person, “ senior So’Derrick Nelson said.
