Personal accomplishments and community outreach are two of the aspects that make Thomas a young role model. Her well-rounded resume' is impressive to anyone who sets their eyes upon it. This is especially true for Bard University, the school that has accepted her as an incoming freshman next school year. Thomas' academic success and commitment to the betterment of her community have caused her to receive numerous accolades and experience opportunities that have enriched her life. She has been awarded the Posse scholarship, she is a semi-finalist for the Coca- Cola scholarship, and she is a recipient of the Horatio Alger scholarship as well. While it is obvious that academics are important to her, she also spends a lot of time giving back to the community. She spends time volunteering at First Intercontinental Bank and has even founded her own charity, Teen Expressions ATL. Thomas seeks to help her peers and other youth by providing finance and scholarship workshops. The charity also hosts open mic events in an effort to provide teens with a forum to express themselves. Last summer Thomas was afforded the opportunity to work as a paid intern at the Verizon Wireless Headquarters and says that it was an amazing experience. “I feel so honored to receive such accolades and encourage everyone to take full advantage of every opportunity that comes their way,” Thomas said.
