New gun regulations

January 18, 2013

The state of Colorado plays an enormous role in the debate about the ban of guns. This state has endured two of the most terrible shootings in United States history. As a result of these massacres, for the first time in a decade, major gun control laws are now being considered.

“The massacres and senseless violence are ridiculous. Our children are in more and more danger every time they leave their homes.  We must ban these guns,” Amber Hughes said.

Many people who oppose the gun law believe people have the right to exercise the second amendment, the right to bear arms. Many others believe if guns are banned they may do more harm than good. The whole point of guns is to protect ones family in case of burglary and also for self-defense. Without this protection many innocent people can be harmed.

“If someone is physically trying to harm me, I should have the right to defend myself,” Malik Brown said.

Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to the debate about guns. Some believe that with them being legal, many people can get hurt, but if they are illegal people still run the risk of being hurt. Explanations will be needed if guns are to be banned and the debate is just beginning.
