A sweet surprise for seniors

November 2, 2012

As seniors walked into the cafeteria last week for a private luncheon, planned by Dr. E. Horton, they were exposed to what seemed like the greatest surprise of their senior year. Little did they know, the surprises were just beginning! Dr. Horton had the greatest surprise waiting for them in petite pink boxes.

“It was like stepping onto a cloud high in the sky as we walked in and saw a sea of light blue on all the walls. The tables were adorned with sparkles and silver stars hung from the ceiling to represent the stars above,” senior Tianna Duggan said.

With posters stating “Seniors Only” and “Our Time To Shine” the seniors felt a sense of pride, knowing that they finally had something to call their own and were being given special treatment.

Just when the seniors thought the special treatment was over, Dr. Horton presented the students with something sweet and savory-Cami-Cakes! Cami-Cakes is   an Atlanta based company that specializes in gourmet cupcakes. It creates unique alternatives to the boring old standard.

Teachers and staff members distributed Cami-Cakes out of pretty pink boxes and seniors enjoyed a variety of cupcakes such as Lemon Drop, a lemon cupcake with lemon frosting, Strawberries-N- Cream, a version of a strawberry cheesecake, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream, a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and many more outstanding flavors.

“Of all the principals the senior class has had, Dr. Horton is the one truly making a difference. Out of the kindness of his heart he decided to do something special for his senior class and we will never forget it,” senior Brittany Avery said.
