Home » School Activities NewsJuniors, seniors attend college readiness workshopsOctober 22, 2012 Douglass High SchoolThe second college readiness session of the year was held last week in the Hospitality Suite as a means to help juniors and seniors prepare for the SAT and ACT. “By having college readiness sessions for us every Tuesday, every junior and senior who attends will be more than ready for college by the time that we graduate,” senior Amanda Washington said. Not only do the sessions prepare students for the SAT and ACT, they also give students chances to apply for colleges. Graduation Coach Mr. C. Allen required seniors and juniors to develop resumes, autobiographies and career focus essays in the session. In addition to the benefits offered by the College Career Center, Dr. Horton also rewarded students for their participation in the college readiness sessions. Seniors Chanesia Smith and DeCarlos Morton won brand new Apple iPads after their names were randomly drawn from a bag of names. “The sessions will be held every Tuesday, so we will have a drawing every other Tuesday for two new winners,” Dr. Horton said. If you are a junior or senior who is interested in receiving help with college applications and SAT and ACT skills, plan to attend college readiness sessions every Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. By Brittany Avery
