Welcome Back! The Glasgow Schools are off and running for another school year. We are excited to welcome back all of our students and staff and to welcome all of our new students and staff to the district. The staff returned for workshops on August 14th and the students first day was August 19th. Time flies when you are having fun!
This past week marked the statewide press release about the Annual performance Report scores from all 500+ public schools in the state of Missouri. The annual performance reports show how well each school and school district is meeting Missouri's education standards under the state's accountability system, Missouri School Improvement Program. The reports are used to review and accredit Missouri's school districts. Schools are awarded points based on performance in five areas: Academic achievement, subgroup achievement (included minority students, students with disabilities, students eligible for free and reduced-price lunches and students receiving special education services).
I am pleased and proud to say that our school district improved our APR percentage by nearly 9% to 92.9%. That percentage is the highest of the three public schools within Howard County. In addition to our districts outstanding good news related to the APR, I am also very proud of the fact that our students who took the ACT exam this past year scored a point higher than the state composite score of 21.6 with a local composite average of 22.6. As we began another year, we are once again challenging ourselves to continue to do well on all of the required state assessments.
