Glasgow Schools welcomes two new teachers!
September 2, 2014By Hannah Weyl of Glasgow Schools
Glasgow High School has two new teachers, James Gawenis (Dr. G) and Lacey Eaton (Ms. Eaton). Dr. G teaches Industrial Arts and Science, while Ms. Eaton teaches Glee Club and Elementary music. Dr. G chose to teach at Glasgow, because it is an opportunity for him to teach both Science and Industrial Arts. Ms. Eaton chose to teach at Glasgow because she wanted to stay in the area where people she loves is close by and because of the support the school and community give to their teachers. They have both had different educations, such as Dr. G has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Master of Education in Special Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry. Ms. Eaton went to Fayette High School, then to Central Methodist University (CMU) where she got her Bachelor of Music-vocal performance. After CMU she went to the University of Kansas to get her Master of Music. Besides just teaching at Glasgow they also have hobbies. Dr. G likes to go hunting, fishing, snowboarding, telemarking skiing, model railroading, and he enjoys Star Wars. Now, Mrs. Eaton likes to sing, exercise, spend time with her friends, family, and pets, and she also likes to read. They both have family members. Dr. G is married to Dr. Lara Gawenis, and they have two children, Cassie, who is 6, and Ian, who is 3. Ms. Eaton's family was mostly born, raised, and now live in Fayette. She also has a dog, Duke, and a cat, Fannie, which are just like her own children. We are very glad that we have two new teachers at Glasgow Schools.
