October 17, 2013By Clay Littrell of Glasgow Schools
After a break of over 3 weeks the Glasgow Cross Country teams traveled to Moberly for meet on Tuesday, October 8th. The course was a little different from past courses Glasgow has run because a portion of the course was in a wooded area.
Starting off for the girls' team, Abby Draffen was one of only two freshmen to medal at the meet. Abby placed 7th with a time of 22:56. Caitlin Yung placed 17th, missing a medal by only two spots. Her time was 24:58. Julia Kramm and Isobel Haskamp finished 20th and 21st with times of 25:32 and 26:23 respectively. A total of 44 runners participated on the Varsity Girls' side. Although Glasgow's four participants accumulated a good composite score, a cross country team must include five participants to be eligible for a team score.
On the boys' side Hayden Hackman was also one of only two freshmen to medal finishing in 12th place with a time of 19:42. Skylar Brucks came in next for Glasgow with a time of 20:30, finishing in 18th place, missing a medal by only three spots. Blake Hackman finished next for Glasgow in 22nd place with a time of 20:50. Kyler Monnig, Alex Mathews, Landon Brand, and Clay Littrell also ran finishing with times of 22:40, 23:57, 23:58, and 25:20 respectively. Forty-one boys participated in this meet.
