Kennesaw Fury, Blue Diamonds Start on Tutuoring for team and potential players
December 9, 2012Georgia Fury
Powder Springs, GA - In the first act of community service for the 2013 season, the Kennesaw Fury and the Blue Diamonds establish free tutoring program for all of the players in both programs. This program also extends to those players that are looking to try out for either program for the 2013 season as well. Headed by the 11th Grade Head Coach Clark Brown III and Cheer Director and Head Coach Randa Wilburn, the program its hosted every Monday at Ron Anderson Recreational Center in Powder Springs, from 4:30PM to 6:30PM.
Both coaches felt it important to keep the free tutoring open to both players and potential players because all players that make the Fury team must carry at least a 2.5 GPA. "There is no reason for players to come to the Fury to try out if they can't keep their grades up," states David Kelly Sr., General Manager of the Kennesaw Fury. "So to keep the players eligible, our coaches wanted to extend it to all of the players. Even if they don't make the Fury team, good grades is a benefit that anyone can appreciate."
When the season starts, tutoring will be mandatory for all of the Fury and Blue Diamond players. Either they will benefit for the tutoring or they will benefit their teammates by their knowledge by becoming a tutor's aid. The importance of keeping the team together during the season, each day will being team consistency both on and off the basketball court. "To join this Fury and Blue Diamonds program, there is a commitment needed from the parents and players." states Kelly. "Our committment is to get your child trained and seen so they can use their basketball skills to pay for their college education. We train the complete student-athlete."
