The Garrett Boys Soccer team traveled to Fort Wayne Friday, August 23 to participate in the National Soccer Festival taking on Fort Wayne South Side. The atmosphere was electric as several major college teams and top area high school teams took the field at Hefner Fields on the IPFW campus. The Railroaders played well as they battled South Side to a 0-0 draw. Though no goals were scored, both teams has several chances and the action was non-stop. Dayton Sweet had 5 shots on goal and Karsten Cooper added two.
Nik Wilkinson recorded the shut out in goal, while a solid defense of Carlos Jiminez, Ashton Castator, Sam Waterhouse, and Gavin Dallas held an extremely speedy South Side team at bay.
Garrett’s record is now 1-1-1 with their next game at home vs. Woodlan on Monday, September 24th.
