Home » Girls' Basketball NewsOut of gasNovember 26, 2012 By Bob Lapadot of Garrett High SchoolThe Lady Railroaders ran out of gas in the 2nd half of Friday night's ACAC conference opener at Woodlan. The 1st half was a back and forth battle that ended with Woodlan ahead 26-25. We battled hard and had chances to make a good run and build on leads in the 1st half but turnovers hurt our progress. The 2nd half was a totally different story. We came out flat and could not buy a basket. We did not make a basket in the 3rd quarter and only 2 in the 4th. We finished the half with 7 points. Our defense that has been so good in our last 3 games could not get enough stops to make up for our lack of scoring. Woodlan took it to us for the fianl 16 minutes, handing us a 57-32 loss. We should have learned some things about being ready to play and mental toughness that will help us through the rest of the year. We had a rough 3 game stretch playing some very talented teams and we just weren't up for the last half of basketball Friday night. We know we are a better team than we showed in the 2nd half. We need to get back on track tomorrow at Prairie Heights.
The JV team got a huge win Friday night coming back from a large deficit to win the game in the final minute. All of the girls battled extremely hard and should be proud of their effort and the outcome.
