Learning from a loss

Lakewood Park defeated the Lady Railroaders 56-52 on Thursday night, dropping the Lady Railroaders to 1-1 on the season. There were a lot of positives about the way we played, but offensive rebounds and missed free throws cost us in the end. LP applied great full and half court pressure all night and we battled through some very physical play to win 3 of the 4 quarters. The last 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter were our demise. We were outscored 13-3 and could not recover. We battled hard in the 4th to cut into the lead and had chacnes all the way to the end of the game.
Brandi Dawson led the way with 22 points, 14 reb, 5 asst, and 2 stls. Emily Somers had the best game of her short career scoring 15 points. Katie Wisel had 9 and Taylor Smith had 6. Becca Oliver tied for game high honors in assists with 5.
This was a good learning experience for our young team. We will get everyone's best game all year long. We have to be ready to match their intensity and make good, smart, fundamental plays throughout the game.
We had our best practice of the year on Friday and are looking forward to tomorrow night's home opener against Central Noble.
