September 30, 2012
By Doug Klopfenstein of Garrett High School

The Garrett boys soccer team finished their regular season play with a home victory over Whitko on Thursday, Sept. 28.  Garrett won the game by a score of 5-0.  It was the fifth win in a row for Garrett and improved their over-all record to 8-8.

About half-way through the first half, Dayton Sweet put the railroaders on top scoring off an assist from Karsten Cooper.  Less than five minutes later, freshman Reiley Pugh scored on an assist from freshman Ivan Ramero and the Railroaders were up 2-0 at half time.

Just two minutes into the second half, Sweet scored his second goal of the game, this time assisted by Reiley Pugh.  Then, within minutes of the third goal, Karsten Cooper scored unassisted and the Railroaders lead 4-0.  Cooper scored his second goal of the game on an assist from Sweet about halfway through the second half and the Railroaders were able to keep the 5-0 lead throughout the rest of the game.

Kele Jennings recorded his 6th shut-out of the season in goal, and the Railroader defense lead by Logan Weyrick, Charlie Waterhouse, Ashton Castator, and Andrew Bishop have given up only 1 goal in the last 5 games.
