Sept. 8 Argos Tourney
The Garrett Boys soccer team traveled to Argos High School to compete in the Argos Boys Soccer Tournament on Sat. Sept. 8th. In the first game of the tourney, Garrett took on 2A division soccer power Northwood. Northwood took a quick lead scoring just 2 minutes into the game. Garrett regrouped quickly and kept Northwood from scoring the rest of the first half making the score 1-0 at halftime. Northwood came out early in the second half scoring early again to go up 2-0. However, with about 20 minutes left to play Garrett’s Trent Leverenz scored on a cross from Logan Weyrick to make it 2-1. Garrett tried desperately to tie the game, but with only 5 minutes remaining, a deflected ball found its way into the Garrett net to make it 3-1. Northwood scored again with less than a minute to play to make the final 4-1
In the second game of the tournament, Garrett bounced back with a thrilling 1-0 victory over John Glenn high school. Garrett had to play less than an hour after the intense first game, but responded quickly and played well at the start. 10 minutes into the game, Karsten Cooper scored the only goal of the game to put Garrett up 1-0. The rest of the game was filled with multiple shots from both teams with Cooper, Kaleb Hoover, and Ivan Ramero all having shots hit of the crossbar and posts. Kele Jennings was spectacular in goal recording his second shut-out of the season making 14 saves in the process.
Garrett left the tournament with their season record standing at 3-7.
