August 20, 2012
By Doug Klopfenstein of Garrett High School

The Garrett boys soccer team defeated Woodlan Monday, August 20th for their first win of the young season and their first conference win. The Railraoders won by a score of 6-1 making their record at this time 1-2.  After a shaking beginning in which Woodlan came close to scoring twice, Garrett settled things down defensively and about 10 minutes into the game Kaleb Hoover put Garrett up 1-0 on a break-away pass from Dayton Sweet.  About 5 minutes later, Blake Western put the Railroaders up 2-0 when he scored.  Right before half, Hoover scored again making the halftime score 3-0.

Garrett put the game away early in the second half scoring twice in the first five minutes.  Dayton Sweet scored on an assist from Goalie Kele Jennings and then Trent Leverenz scored on a pass from Sweet.  Andrew Rodriguez finished the scoring for Garrett as he found the back of the net on an assist from Western.  Woodlan scored late to make the final 6-1.

Kele Jennings made 5 saves for Garrett.
