Georgia Invitational 7 on 7 Tourney to be Showcased This Weekend

Marietta, GA -- The National Select 7 on 7 Championships presented by Under Armour, along with iHigh.com, the Global Youth Network, announced today that football fans across the country can view live video from the Georgia Invitational 7 on 7 Tournament this weekend.

The Georgia Invitational is a qualifier for the National Select 7 on 7 Championships presented by Under Armour, which will be held in Hoover, AL on July 21st - 23rd.

The 7 on 7 tournament will be held on Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia.

Teams participating include Alpharetta (GA), Chattanooga Christian (TN), Duluth (GA), Flowery Branch (GA), Griffin (GA), Henry Co (GA), Hillgrove (GA), Kell (GA), Lassiter (GA), Lone Oak (KY), Lovejoy (GA), North Hardin (KY), Rowan County (KY), South Cobb (GA), South Lake (FL), and Walton (GA).

Jep Irwin, Director of the Georgia Invitational Tournament and head football coach at Lassiter High School, says that the competition in the event has evolved over the last few years.

"Teams are better prepared offensively and defensively and the quality of teams has improved as well," Irwin said. "The best teams in the state of Georgia now realize the benefits of 7 on 7 competition and want to be a part of the National Select and Qualifying tournaments."

Irwin also appreciates the benefits of hosting a qualifying tournament that is affiliated with the National Select 7 on 7 Championship.

"We want to be known as a football program that plays an exciting brand of football," Irvin said, "and it is a natural fit to be associated with the National Select tournament and its well established reputation as the best tournament in the country.

"The fact about these tournaments is that 75% of these teams' football players are unable to attend this event and the ability to give those players access to watch and support their team from home is a great way to include those players and their families who are not able to physically be with us," said Brandon Sheppard, Executive Director for the National Select 7 on 7 Championships.
