Fridley Alum Excels During Spring Game

FOOTBALL: Husky Spring Season Concludes with Spring Game

 St. Cloud, Minn. – The reigning NSIC football co-champion St. Cloud State held its annual spring game under perfect weather conditions Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. The contest which pitted the offense against the defense with special scoring ended in a 29-29 tie.

The big plays of the day on defense included a quarterback sack by sophomore end Jeff Bias II (Racine, Wis.), a fumble recovery by Rupe and an interception by sophomore defensive back Jarek Kunz (Lake Geneva, Wis.). Kunz returned the INT 27 yards and had three tackles on the afternoon.

 Sophomore Kyle Risinger (Excelsior) had four tackles and redshirts Kyle Veloz (Oak Creek, Wis.),  Austin Rogers (Kimberly, Wis.) and Patrick Faber (Fridley) each had three tackles.

 St. Cloud State is the reigning NSIC co-champion, having posted a 9-3 record in 2011 and advancing to the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs for the second straight year and fourth time in school history.

The Huskies will open the 2012 season at home on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7:00 p.m. against one of the new members of the NSIC, the University of Sioux Falls.
