FMS VBall splits season opener

After a sluggish start, the 7th grade team took control of the first match of the evening to defeat North Central in three games, 22-25, 25-13, 25-16.  Battling first game nervousness, they struggled at the service line, making only about 60% of their serves for the night.  One very bright spot on the serving line was Maddie Beeman, making 18 of 24 serves with an unbelievable 14 aces.  She also had a great kill off a Cailyn Pentecost assist in the second game.  Hannah Russell came off the bench to serve five for six with an ace. 


The 8th grade team also had a sluggish start and went three games with North Central, but came up short in the end, 21-25, 25-16, 20-25.  Bella Dangerfield put on a serving clinic, going 20 for 22 with 11 aces.  Autumn Godwin put down 4 solid kills, and Mallory Baker led the team with 5 assists.
