Split DH with Northrop on Cancer day.

May 17, 2014
By Ron Smith of Fremont High School

Today was our Strikeout Cancer day. Our senior leader and starting catcher Casey Ford organized today's events for our Cancer games against Northrop. She was able to get sponsors to pay for special cancer shirts for both team to wear during our two games. I want to thank Casey for her hard work is organizing everything. She put together a silent auction and bake sale. She raised over $200 that will go towards the fight for cancer. I want to thank everyone who valunteered to help with the bake sale and auction. I also want to send out a special thanks to Heather Weidenhamer and Angie Lyon who helped get the food together in between games today. I know our girls and the Northrop girls enjoyed it very much. Now as far as the games went we split the two games. The first game ended up being close we lost 6-5. We got early 6-1 but late in the game we caught back and came with in one hit of winning the game. We made a few mistakes early but we made it a close game. The second game was close all the way. We won by the score of 3-2.  In this game we were able to hit the ball and bunt the ball when we needed to get the runs to win the game. Today was a good day for the Eagle although we didn't win both games we played hard and made a lot of defensive play. Today it seemed like we were more focused on defense and didn't have a lot of fielding mistakes. We struggled at times at the plate but we just came up short in the first game and we played the way we needed to to get the win in the second game. We are home Tuesday against West Noble. GO EAGLES.
