JV Swept at home in DH

May 11, 2014
By Ryan Allman of Fremont High School

Another beautiful day ruined with the strikeout bug.  We continued to make the other starting pitchers look like Cy Young Sat in a double header loss to Elkhart Memorial.  We had a total of 18 strikeouts on the day, most of which were looking.

In the first game we had another good outing from Kyle Lowe on the mound but lost 12-6.  Lowe went all 7 and threw 5 more strikeouts.  We did have some hitting in this game.  Dylan Peppler led the Eagles with a 2-3 game.  Pepp had a triple and 2 RBI's for the game.  Lowe, Jake Baker and Logan Penetcost added 2 hits of their own.

The second game was not our best effort.  Memorial beat us 15-2 because we could only muster up 5 hits for the game.  I don't know if it was the let down from game 1 or what happened but we had 11 strikeouts in the game and at least half were looking.

Jayce Colclasure had a nice double and Jake Baker added another double in the loss.  Jake Baker, Eric Hall and Jackson Cardoso all shared time on the mound in relief.  Jackson and Eric both had nice innings.  It seemed like Jackson's first time on the mound really gave the Memorial hitters problems.  He is more of a sidearm pitcher and they are not used to seeing that...expect to hear more about his pitching as his career goes on.

We will be back in action Monday at Home against Garrett.
