Eagles Swept in a DH

May 11, 2014
By Justin Bock of Fremont High School

Game 1: Fremont 2, Northfield 10

The Norsemen pounded out 12 hits and our pitchers walked 8 batters, constantly finding themselves in tense situations. They battled, though, keeping Northfield from any huge innings. Northfield's biggest inning was a three-run first. Nate Beatty had two hits and scored a run. Bryce Thomas and Kyler Grange had RBIs.

Game 2: Fremont 6, Northfield 16

After jumping to a 4-0 lead, Northfield answered with an inning we couldn't seem to escape. Fremont srcaped together two runs in each of the the first two innings, scoring on an error, Brock Baker getting hit by pitch with the bases loaded, and Braxton Baker hitting a sacrifice fly. But we didn't make a couple of routine plays and Hunter Jordan picked off two runners and got no outs to show for it. One we screwed up and another the umpire flat missed the call.

Alex Beams had two hits, scored three runs, and stole a couple of bases. Kaleb Hayes had four excellent at bats, seeing a 28 total pitches and reaching base all four times: two hits and two walks. Brock had two RBIs. Ryan Sichling continued his NECC-leading theft of bases, stealing three in the game. he now has 15 on the year.
