Our Eagles Trump Their Eagles

May 6, 2014
By Justin Bock of Fremont High School

Fremont 7, Churubusco 1

Mark Grove's Churubusco baseball program is one that both Mr. Probst and I have always had a tremendous amount of respect for. That's why winning our fourthh in a row against them is something to be excited about. Busco came in to the game 3-0 in the conference and sporting an 11-5 overall record.

Many different individuals contributed to this win. None moreso than two guys who returned from injury. Brock, coming back from a torn abdominal muscle, pitched a gutty complete game, allowing one earned on five hits. After the line drive he took at Parkview, Alex Beams returned to shortstop. He made a number of plays in the field and had two hits. Ryan Sichling had two hits, including a triple, and knocked in three runs. Bryce Thomas had a two-run single that gave us some breathing room. Kyler Grange also had two hits, one a bullet to the left center gap.

Defensively, Hunter Jordan and Kaleb Hayes secured the corners of the infield exceptionally well. Kaleb scooped a handful of throws out of the dirt like a professional, and Hunter showed his range and his leaping ability.

This win is a confidence builder and shows how when everyon simply does his job, we can be pretty darn good. We are now 4-1 in the conference, trailing only Westview (3-0) and Angola (3-0) in the loss column. We travel to Bronson tomorrow night and then once again host a hot team in Fairfield on Thursday.
