19-7 win in the rain

May 2, 2014
By Ron Smith of Fremont High School

Thursday night we were host to Hamilton for our NECC tourny consulation game. The game did not start the way we wanted it to. First off the game started and so did the rain. Hamilton put a 5 spot on the score board in the top of the 1st inning. Our pitching struggled with the rainy conditions but we finally got out of the inning and then it was our turn at the plate. We returned the favor and put up 5 runs of our own to tie the game after one inning. From there we continued to hit the ball well and we opened the gome up with a big lead. We won the game 19-7 in 5 innings. THe big story of the day was the performance that Rebecca Benett had at the plate. She went 4 for 4 with 2 singles a triple and a HR. She also pitched a complete game for the victory. Becca's HR came in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game. She hit a walk off grand slam to end the game. Earlier in the game Becca hit another grand slam but it was taken away due to the runner in front of her did not touch home plate before she did. Becca's second grand slam of the day was taken away and she was given a triple instead. (what a bummer). Becca ended the day with 7 RBI's. We are in action again next Tuesday at home against Churubusco. Game starts at 5:00pm GO EAGLES.
