Eagles Bounce Back Big

April 24, 2014
By Justin Bock of Fremont High School

Fremont 13, Hamilton 3 (5 innings)

Fremont pulled away with an 8-run second that included seven hits, a couple of walks, and two Hamilto errors. Dylan Peppler doubled with the bases loaded to score two, and Bryce Thomas followed that with a double of his own, scoring two more. He also scored on the play because of a throwing error by the Marine catcher.

Four Eagles had two hits: Brock Baker, Braxton Baker, Hunter Jordan, and Kyler Grange. Five Eagles had two RBIs: Bruise, Kaleb Hayes, Jordan, Peppler, and Thomas.

Hunter pitched a complete game, allowing two earned on three hits while striking out four. He avoided the big inning even though he walked the leadoff hitter in four of the five innings he pitched. In the fifth after a leadoff walk, he was helped when Kyle Lowe went to cover second as a runner was stealing. The batter hit a hard two-hopper right to him. He fielded it, stepped on second, took a kick to his ankle, regrouped, and turned the double play.

This was a nice win after a disappointing loss to Angola. Fremont now gets some well-deserved time between games, not playing again until the NECC Tournament starts next week against Prairie Heights.
