Eagles 3-2 Over Chargers

April 21, 2014
By Brent Byler of Fremont High School

With beautiful weather on an early spring evening, the Eagle tennis team downed West Noble 3-2 in a big conference match Monday.  Senior Anna Thompson blended powerful groundstrokes in with a fair share of backspin slice to command the match at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-1. At #2 singles, Kaileigh Folland played a consistent sequence of games to post a 6-2, 6-2 win.  The final win came from #1 doubles and two seniors, Ashton Taner and Itzel Sanchez. The doubles tandem teamed up to take down a solid WN team 6-2, 6-4.  West Noble senior Josie Gibbons battled in the longest match of the night to down Eagle junior Jordan Lovett in 3 sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.  The duo of Leeah Reidenbach and Kierra Flanagin couldn't seem to find their grove as they fell 6-2, 6-3.

The JV tennis team also defeated the Chargers, 4-1.  Picking up wins were Riley McCrea, Caprice Crotty, Karen Carmona, Jackie Weisenfelder, and Kennedy McCrea.

The varsity improved their record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the NECC as the JV stayed undefeated with a 2-0 record.

The Eagles travel to DeKalb tomorrow.
