Fremont Wins Easily

Typically a coach would be thrilled with a mercy-rule win, and I as I review the stats, maybe things weren't as bad as I thought they were. However, when I replay particular plays in my mind and I remember Coach Frantz's reaction (he is a true baseball guy) to our decisions, I am certain we were pretty awful at times.

Now the main frustration is that we didn't play well Saturday (refer to my iHigh report) and we are preparing for our biggest game to date: a showdown with Angola at Parkview. So understand that winning tonight's game, while important, was not our main objective. We needed to get ourselves in Parkview/Angola mode. And I don't think we quite got it done. However, here are the highlights -- and there were many -- from a lopsided win.

Five Eagles had mulitple hits, including three by Ryan Sichling and two by Alex Beams, Brock Baker, Braxton Baker, and Dylan Peppler. Braxton had four RBIs, and Beams and Andrew Thomas scored three times each. Brock Baker hit his second gopher ball of the year and Dylan had his second triple. We stole nine bases, led by Ryan's three, Brock's two, and Nate Beatty's two.

Brice Schueler earned the win, going four innings and striking out nine. Ryan Sichling pitched two scoreless, hitless innings of relief.

We threw four wild pitches, hit two batters, walked three batters and committed four errors. These are the things that have to change.

On a more serious note, Bryce Thomas took a foul ball to the nose and may have broken it. I have not heard back yet but am awaiting word. We're all hoping it's nothing too serious.

See everyone at Parkview on Wednesday!
