JV Travels to Leo

April 20, 2014
By Ryan Allman of Fremont High School

The JV baseball team traveled down to Leo Friday evening.  After getting knocked off by Eastside in a close loss at home the day before, we were ready to get back on the field.  On what was probably the nicest game day thus far we were focused and ready to take on a very good baseball team.  Eric Hall took the mound for the Eagles and pitched well with his first start of the year.  Jayce Colclasure came in late in the fourth for the relief effort.  Jayce was solid on his ball to strike ratio.

Leo took the early lead at 4-0 after the second.  The Eagles fought back in the top of the third when Jordan Rode, Jayce Colclasure, Nate Midtgard and Logan Pentecost all scored in our first good offensive showing in the last 6 innings.  Leo had some really nice base hits when it counted and ended up winning the game 13-6.

Nate Midtgard had two very nice assists from left field in the game.  He threw out a Leo runner at home and one at third in the game.  Jackson Cardoso did a great job at first base for the Eagles as a Freshman in his second start.  Jordan Rode got on base safely four times in the game and was very active on the bases.

Coming off of the last game and the poor performance all around at home, it was nice to see the guys bounce back and play hard and give a nice effort.  The focus was there and we played hard tonight.  We played well, but Leo had too much at the plate for us and their fielding was outstanding with no errors on the night.

We are back at it Sat @ Westview.
