Split with Manchester

April 20, 2014
By Ron Smith of Fremont High School

On Saturday Eagle softball team made the long trip to Manchester to play a double header. It was a great day to play softball. Our first game went really good. Our players came out and hit the ball real well. We scored early and often. Our batters put on a hitting clinic that I havent seen in a while. We ended the game with 24 hits and we scored 13 run. Our great play carried over from the night before from the Southside game. The second game did not go as planned. We lost 9-2. The first inning started right were we left off from the first game. We got several hits and scored two runs, from there we couldn't hit the ball. We played solid defense untill the 4th inning then the wheels fell off. We started to make defensive mistakes and Manchster started to get to our pitching. I thought our pitchers did a great job all day. Defensivly we played great for about 11 innings then we started making mistakes. Overall I am proud of how our girls played and they have shown much needed improvment on both sides of the ball. We travel to Westview on Monday. GO EAGLES
