JV Baseball pulls out a victory in Ohio

April 3, 2014
By Ryan Allman of Fremont High School

After the first game was scratched due to weather, the JV guys were ready to play some ball.

The JV had a 4:00 start at Edon, OH today.  The Eagles started the game off hot taking the early lead.  A couple of errors allowed Edon to get back in the game, but we held on for the slim 6-5 win.  Starting the season 1-0 means a lot for the returning Juniors and Sophomores on the JV.  One of those Sophomores, Kyle Lowe, threw all 7 innings.  He threw 101 pitches in the win, 70% of which were strikes.  Lowe also helped himself scoring two runs.  There were several nice defensive plays not to mention the double play turned up the middle by Joe Conti.  Joe also went 3-4 and scored two runs.  Jordon Rode, one of the team leaders, played shortstop and had some steller defense.

All in all I was very happy with the attitudes and enthusiasm for the first game of the season...not to mention the fact that we have only had one outside practice and the guys haven't seen live mound pitching until tonight.  Way to play like dirt balls tonight guys.

Next JV game will be at home Monday @ 5:00 against Lakewood Park Christian.  We hope to see you there.

EAGLE BASEBALL...CHAMPIONS!
