Fremont Boys Hoopsters get on track.

December 26, 2013
By Ted Bookwalter of Fremont High School

Fremont downs a much improved Hamilton team 83-51 on the 23rd of December.  Hamilton was short a couple of players with injury and illness while Fremont added defensive specialist Ryan Sichling to the mix.

For Fremont, Ryan Sichling, Justin Papenbrock, and Tony LaRose shared defensive duties on Hamilton's Casey Rote holding him to 14 points in a fast paced game.  Casey Rote is an outstanding player capable of scoring in the 30's.  Stephen Addison and Daine Johnson chipped in with 11 points each for Hamilton as well.  These same three Fremont players contributed 15 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds to the team effort in addition to the above mentioned defensive effort.

Also for Fremont, Alex Beams had 27 points (21 at the half), 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and only 2 turnovers in a first class performance on the court.  Tyler Meyer had his best game of the season putting up 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Freshman Wade Regedanz continued his steady performanc with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Post players Logan Peel, Andrew Thomas, and Austin Roebel combined to give the team 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Freshman, Logan Pentecost and Sophomores Logan Miller, and Austin Roebel continued to build varsity experience providing both defense, offense, and energy to the team.

However, it was a total team effort on both ends of the court which propelled the Eagles to the most efficient game of the year with 11 players scoring at 1.30 points per minute, and 14 players seeing time on the court holding Hamilton to only 0.73 points per minute.

Fremont next plays Class A Dexter in the Coldwater Tournament on Friday at 3:30 PM.  The Boys go into this tournament on a "3-peat", winning this tournament the last 3 years in a row.  We have a rather large target on our back as the Michigan schools try to contain our offense.  Dexter Hich School is in the Ann Arbor area in Michigan having about 1,200 students in grades 9 through 12.  Come on out and support both the boys and girls JV and Varsity teams on Friday and Saturday at the Coldwater High School gyms.
