Home » Boys' Basketball NewsEagles play LaVille in Sectional, Lancers prevailFebruary 27, 2013 By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High SchoolThe varsity boys' basketball team was looking to break a six game losing streak in State Tournament play dating back to 2007. Unfortunately, the team added to the streak as they lost in the opening round to LaVille by a score of 42 to 58. The team dug a hole early as they were down 10-0 right out of the gate. The Eagles fought back and got to within a bucket, but that was as close as they'd get. The Lancers proved to be too difficult as they outplayed the Eagles in every facet of the game. Leading Fremont was Tyler Jenkins with 16 points, 8 boards, 5steals, and 2 assists. Jake Bryant had 10 points, Austin Corcimiglia had 6 points, and Jordon Schmucker had 8 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists. Alex Beams had 6 boards and 2 assists to help the Eagle cause. The loss dropped the Eagles to 12-9 for the season. Sadly, this game will serve as the end of six careers. The coaching staff can't thank you enough for your efforts over the past four years. The guys were a part of 47 program wins over the course of their four years. Although you didn't have the success you had dreamt of in the state tournament, you have three Coldwater Holiday Hoops Championships and an outright NECC CHAMPIONSHIP. Great job guys and good luck in your future aspirations.
