Eagle boys close season on high note

February 23, 2013
By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High School

The varsity boys' basketball team was looking to rebound from its last outing against the Westview Warriors.  The team did that and more with a nice 85-59 win over the Bethany Christian Bruins.  In doing so, the team tied a 21 year-old team three-point shooting record.  The team's 14 threes overwhelmed the home Bruins.  The Eagles used the three pointers to explode with a 31 point third quarter.  The team had three scorers who had more than 19 points.  Tyler "Trifecta" Jenkins had 27 points, 12 boards, 4 assists, and 3 blocks.  Austin "Corch" Corcimiglia had 21 points, 4 boards, and 4 steals.  Alex Beams had 19 points, 4 boards, and 2 steals.  In all, five players knocked down threes.  The win put the team's record at 12-8.  Great job fellas!  The team will be back in action on Tuesday against the LaVille Lancers in Sectional play.  Tipoff is at 7:30.

The junior varsity team concluded its season with a nice 49-34 win.  The team used exceptional passing and good games from many of its players to cap their season off right.  Leading the team in scoring was Caleb Presley who had 17, Tyler Meyer played well and had 11 points, 5 assists, 3 boards, and 2 steals.  Kraig Foley played his best game and had 9 points, 5 boards, and 2 assists.  Also scoring for Fremont was Logan Miller (6 points), Hunter Jump (4 points), and Colton Howe (2 points).  The win put the team's record at 8-12.  Coach Arndt would like to thank the players for their efforts this season and congratulate the team on ending the season on a high note!!
