Home » Boys' Basketball NewsWestview, Eagles tip off in NECC matchup, Warriors prevailFebruary 20, 2013 By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High SchoolThe varsity boys' basketball were ready to go against the Westview Warriors on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, an awful 2nd quarter (16-2) prevented the game from being a contest. Besides the second, the score was a 48-44 game. Westview took advantage of second chance points and some untimely shooting by the Eagles to dominate the second stanza. Leading the way for Fremont was Tyler Jenkins who had 26 points and 8 boards. Alex Beams had 11 points, and Austin Corcimiglia had 5 points, 4 boards, and 3 steals. The loss puts the team's record at 11-8 overall and 6-4 in the NECC. The team will be back in action on Friday against the Bethany Christian Bruins. The junior varsity boys' basketball team was out of it from the start as the score at the end of one quarter was 11-3. Westview built as big of a lead as 47-13, but give the Eagles credit because they fought back to close the final margin to 51-23. The team was led by Logan Miller's 9 points, Tyler Meyer had 7 points and 3 boards, finally Colton Howe had 4 points and 2 boards. The loss put the team's record at 7-12. The team will conclude its season on Friday at Bethany Christian's Menno Lands Gymnasium.
