Home » Wrestling NewsFremont Wrestling Season ends in Fort WayneFebruary 9, 2013 By Eric Bryan of Fremont High SchoolThe 2012-13 Fremont wrestling season came to an end this weekend at the Fort Wayne Coliseum today. Hunter Leskowyak, Tylor Willms, Ricky Short, and Austin Maggart all fell the first round of the Fort Wayne semi-state. These guys have put a lot of time on the mat this season and did an excellent job representing Fremont. Tylor lost his first round in overtime that came down to a scramble that was initiated from a hip toss by Tylor, unfortunately we ended up on bottom. Hunter wrestled aggressive and had a couple shots, but was unable to finish the takedowns, but wrested well in the top / bottom position. Ricky wrestled a heck of a match, but could not keep up with the quickness of his opponent and fell short at the end of the three periods. Austin came out and wrestled with a lot of heart and guts… as he has done all year long for us at 170 lbs. Either way, it is nice to bring four guys down here to Fort Wayne and to have a representative from each grade (freshman – Senior). This will be a great experience for the underclassmen and I believe will inspire them to take it once step further next season. It has been a memorable year in Fremont wrestling history and I’m very proud of the guys today and the way our team wrestled this year.
