Home » Boys' Basketball NewsFremont ends five game skid, sting the HornetsFebruary 2, 2013 By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High SchoolThe Fremont Eagle boys' basketball team was desperate for a W against the Angola Hornets. The team had endured a season-long five game losing streak and were eager to end the slide. Not only did they end the streak, they did so in a big way! The 65-51 victory was much needed and hard earned as Angola played about as physical as any team has this year against the Eagles. Leading the Eagles were the seniors: Tyler "Trifecta" Jenkins, Jakey Bryant, Austin "Corch" Corcimiglia, and Jordon "Schmuck" Schmucker. They all played great minutes and did what was needed to get the job done. I could talk about stats, but I'd rather talk about the efforts of the four seniors as they played their final game against the Hornets. These four seniors have been able to defeat the Angola Hornets 4 times over the course of their careers. Great job seniors and the rest of the team on your accomplishment. The win put the team's record at 9-6 overall, 4-3 in the NECC. A tip of the hat needs to go to Tyler Jenkins whose 30 points pushed him into first place in the all-time leading scorer list of Fremont High School basketball history. Great job Tyler, and I think I speak for all: It's good to have the FRO back!! The junior varsity basketball team suffered a setback against the visiting Hornets by a score of 42 to 29. The team got off to another awful start as the visiting Hornets led 13-2. However, the team fought back to get to as close as six points, but couldn't maintain their edge and eventually lost by 13. The team will look to get back to winning ways on Thursday against Fairfield, but for now is left to pick up the pieces as the team lost its 8th out of last 9 games. The loss put the team's record at 6-9 overall, 2-5 in the NECC.
