Lady Eagles fall to Fairfield

January 26, 2013
By Neal Frantz of Fremont High School

The Fremont Lady Eagles fell at home to a strong Fairfield team on senior day 56-45 to drop to 9-9 on the season.  4 seniors played there last home game for the Lady Eagles.  These girls have all been 4 year players who have battled through some tough times. Kailyn Sherburne, Brittany Davis, Caitlin Loffer, Kelsey Sichling and manager Lexie Bowen were honored in a pre-game ceremony.  The Eagles came out slow again as Fairfield jumped to an early lead and stretched it to 11 by halftime.  The third quarter didn't get any better until late when the team started chipping away.  A strong 4th quarter showed the true character of the team, but they could not overcome the big deficit.  Miranda White battled foul problems but lead the team with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.  Shae Rhonehouse had 11 points and 5 rebounds.  Kelsey Sichling added 9 points and 5 rebounds, Kailyn Sherburne had 4 assists while Caitlin Loffer and Taylor McDaniel had 3 steals.

The Fremont Junior Varsity Eagles played one of their best games of the year but still fell in overtime 25-22.  The team was lead by Melissa Beer with 7 points and 8 rebounds.  Kaleigh Folland added 6 points and Mercedes Lyon had 10 rebounds.  Both teams are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Eastside for a 6pm start.
