Eagles drop two to Eastside!

January 22, 2013
By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High School

The varsity Eagle basketball team suffered its fourth consecutive setback in a row on Tuesday night in the Eagles' Nest.  The team took on the upstart Eastside Blazers and had a tough start as they dug a 25-11 hole in the early part.  The team did fight back to take a lead at one point, but Eastside extended a lead from that point back out to as much as nine.  The final tally of 63 to 54 was not indicative of the effort the team put together tonight.  Leading the team was Austin Corcimiglia whose 24 points was a career-high.  He also had 4 assists and 3 boards.  Jordon Schmucker played well and had 12 points, 9 boards, and 5 steals.  Alex Beams added 9 points and Tony LaRose grabbed 10 boards.  The loss put the team's record at 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the NECC.

The junior varsity team continued its slide as the team was once again unable to get off to a good start.  Trailing 0 to 6 after one, the team went on from there to play even up with the visiting Blazers. The final score of 43-33 is the team's 6th loss in the last 7 games.  Playing well for Fremont were Tyler Meyer (12 points/6 boards), Colton Howe (8 points and 4 boards), and Kraig Foley (4 points and 2 assists).  The loss dropped the team's record to 6-7 overall, 2-3 in the NECC.

The teams will be back in action on Friday at Prairie Heights.  Good luck Eagles!
