Home » Boys' Basketball NewsEagles drop two to West NobleJanuary 18, 2013 By Andrew Arndt of Fremont High SchoolThe varsity boys' basketball team took on one of this area's best and stayed neck and neck with them for three quarters. Unfortunately, West Noble's three point shooting shot Fremont out of its own gym (10-26). The final tally of 71 to 49 wasn't indicative of the Eagles' effort as the team put its best foot forward. Leading the team in scoring was Alex Beams who had 21 points, 2 steals, and 2 boards. Austin "AC" Corcimiglia had 9 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Jordon Schmucker had 9 points, 5 steals, 4 boards, and 3 assists. Finally, Jake Bryant and Logan Peel had 5 points apiece. Logan had 8 boards to lead the team. The loss put the team's record at 8-4 and dropped the team's record to 3-1 in the NECC. The junior varsity team lost a heartbreaker in the last few seconds to West Noble on play where the team lost a man down the court. The team had many chances to ice the game in the waning seconds, but was unable to play "heady" basketball in the last minute. Couple that with two back-to-back 1 and 1s being missed, and you have a frustrating loss. The team did play very hard and made a great comeback in the fourth quarter to take a one point lead after being down by 8 after three quarters. Leading the team was Jeremy Seiler with 5 points and 6 boards. Logan Miller had 5 points and 2 boards. Tyler Meyer had 5 points and 2 boards. Finally, Austin Papenbrock, Colton Howe, and Caleb Presley each had 4 points. Ryan Sichling played great defense on West Noble's best player. The loss dropped the team's record to 6-6 overall, 2-2 in the NECC. The Eagles will next play against the Eastside Blazers on Tuesday. Good luck team.
