The Fremont wrestling team finished second place, just behind Churubusco at the Woodlan Invitational Saturday. I was pretty happy overall with the team’s performance today, considering we were able to put eight guys in the finals. Hunter Leskowyak wrestled a strong three periods aggressively and because of his efforts, he was able to clinch the 120 lb championship. Following shortly after, David wrestled tough all three periods and controlled his match from the first whistle. Tylor and Brad had matches that got the stands on their feet in the finals and both matches came down to the last few seconds, fortunately, we came out on top in both matches by securing takedowns. I was surprised on how well we finished today as a team since we were not at full strength. We definitely have the capability to make a run for the N.E.C.C conference tourney, but there are still a few things we need to sharpen up in the practice room to make it a reality.
