Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Eagles up Conference Record to 4-2 with Road WinJanuary 4, 2013 By Neal Frantz of Fremont High SchoolThe Fremont Lady Eagles used a 14-2 1st quarter run and never looked back as they defeated Churubusco 54-40 on Friday night at Busco. The Eagles played very well offensively in the first half putting up 32 points and leading by 17 at half. Though not seriously threatened in the 2nd half the ladies weren't able to increase their lead and battled even with Busco. Ali German gave the team a big lift off the bench with 10 first half points and shooting Busco out of their zone defense. Miranda White added 13 points and 14 rebounds 3 assists and 3 steals and Shae Rhonehouse had 12 points. Kelsey Sichling added 7 points and 5 rebounds and Caitlin Loffer had 6 points. The team opens conference tourney play at Angola on Wednesday. On Thursday night the Junior Varsity Eagles were defeated by Churubusco 23-20. The team was led by Cierra Helmke's 6 points, 5 points from Ryleigh Weidenhamer and 8 rebounds from Mercedes Lyon. Melissa Beer added 4 points and 4 rebounds and Kaleigh Folland had 3 assists to help the Eagle cause. The junior varsity next plays on January 12th in a 4 way tourney with Churubusco, Angola and Eastside.
