Lady Eagles raise record to 4-1 with road win

December 1, 2012
By Neal Frantz of Fremont High School

The Fremont Lady Eagles survived a shaky second quarter and pulled out a 52-40 road win on Saturday night over Lakeland.  The team had a solid start and a 14 point second quarter lead before the pressure of the Lakers got to the Eagles resulting in numerous turnovers.  Halftime was a welcome relief as the team got regrouped and played a much better second half outscoring the Lakers by 7 in the third quarter and by 4 in the fourth quarter to come away with their second conference victory.  The ladies had a very balanced attack on the night.  Junior Miranda White again had a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, senior Kelsey Sichling had 11 and 13 and freshman Shae Rhonehouse had 9 and 14.  Senior Caitlin Loffer added 11 points and 2 steals and Ali German and Jessica Mofield provided sparks off the bench for the team.  German with 7 points and 5 rebounds and Mofield with  5 rebounds.  Though not the most pretty win for the Eagles it was a case where we could have folded on the road, but we came out and put together a strong second half for the win.  Congratulations Ladies!!

The Junior Varsity played a very good first half and took a three point halftime lead only to fall to the Laker JV 36-24.  Mercedes Lyon lead the Eagles with 8 points.  Both teams are back in action on Wednesday when they host Reading MI.
