Home » Football NewsEagles fall to Panthers 23-15September 23, 2012 By Nick Maksimchuk of Fremont High SchoolRain, Rain, and more Rain made the conditions slippery and sloppy for the Eagles as they lose a tough homecoming game to the Prairie Heights Panthers. It was an even back and forth game until the Panthers pinned the Eagles inside their own 5 which resulted in a safety and then the Panthers capitalized with a score. The Panthers struck first on a blown coverage to take the lead 7-0 but the Eagles fought back and Chandler McDowell hit Nate Beatty on a long fade route for a score. Beatty kicked the extra point to tie the game at 7. The score would remain 7-7 going into halftime. The Panthers ended up scoring a TD on a 4th down play in the 3rd to take a 13-7 lead after Ricky Short blocked the extra point. It rained the entire game but the Eagles found their rhythm in the passing game as McDowell threw for nearly 200 yards - 100 of those yards went to Beatty. McDowell hit Ricky Short in the endzone with 36 seconds left to bring the game to 23-15 after the 2 point conversion pass to Beatty was successful. It was a hard fought ball game by both teams. The Eagles are back in action at home this Friday as they host the Blazers of Eastside.
JV will play @ PH on Monday.
