Home » Baseball NewsTime to RefocusMay 21, 2012 By Justin Bock of Fremont High SchoolFremont 7, Lakewood Park 4 What started out as a rout -- the Eagles jumped out to a 7-0 lead -- ended listlessly as Fremont held on for the victory. Kaleb Hayes (4-1) threw the first four innings, allowing a single run while striking out 3. Brock Baker pitched the final three innings, picking up his first varsity save. Jake Bryant inched closer to the single-season stolen bases record as he picked up three huge steals. All were important because they directly led to two of the three runs he scored. Jake's total, 31, is now two shy of tying the record. Glen McClain also pushed himself closer to the single-season RBI record. His two singles in his first two atbats each brought home a run, and he added a sac fly in his third plate appearance. Glen now has 42 RBIs on the year and is three away from Richie McCarty's 45 set in 1995. Andrew Smith also had two hits in the game. We would like to recognize five players who received postseason honors on Sunday. Matt Hoff and Jake Bryant were named All-NECC Honorable Mention. Glen McClain, Andrew Smith, and Brock Baker were named All-Conference. Congrats, guys! The regular season is over and we are sure hoping that we can put a run together like we know we're capable of over the next week. Please wish the team luck as we travel Wednesday to play host LaVille.
