Home » Baseball NewsEagles Putting Together Nice Final WeekMay 16, 2012 By Justin Bock of Fremont High SchoolFremont (14-12, 7-2 NECC) 7, West Noble 1 For the third game in a row, a Fremont pitcher threw a complete game. Kaleb Hayes (3-1) gave up his only run in the seventh inning. He struck out five and allowed only five hits. Although he struggled with his control throughout (Coach Robinson: "Kaleb, you pitched so slowly you bored me tonight"), he battled to get the complete game. In the past 21 innings, Fremont pitchers have allowed only four runs, a trend we'd like to see continue into sectionals. The hitting came from a potpourri of players, as it has been lately. Andrew Smith and Tanner Wall had RBI singles in the fourth that provided a one-run game some breathing room. Later in the inning, Brady Elliott took one for the team with the bases loaded. Glen McClain opened the gap wider with a solo shot (fifth of the year) in the fifth, and Jake Bryant iced it with a two-run single in the sixth. Fremont's defense continued its improved play, committing no errors and generally confusing the West Noble runners. Because of the numerous pickoff play attempts from both the pitcher and the catcher, West Noble's conservative approach meant they couldn't capitalize on their five hits and five walks. The Sectional draw was tonight also. Fremont plays the host school LaVille in a galaxy far, far away. We meet on Wednesday in the 5:00 game.
