Home » Baseball NewsEagles Lose DoubleheaderMay 5, 2012 By Justin Bock of Fremont High SchoolGame 1: Fremont 1, Northfield 6 After giving up two runs in each of the first two innings, Alex Beams settled in and threw three great innings against an explosive Northfield offense. He ended up striking out 6 in 5.2 innings. Unfortunately, Fremont's offense was feeble from beginning to end. The only threat occurred in the fifth inning when Fremont, down 4-1, had runners on second and third with no outs. However, after a strikeout, a missed suicide bunt attempt, and a pop out, the threat came to a screeching halt. Game 2: Fremont 2, Northfield 4 The other bright spot once again came in the form of pitching; in this case, two pitchers in game 2. Kaleb Hayes pitched 5 strong innings, allowing just two runs and continually working out of tight jams. Tanner Wall came in with no outs and the bases loaded in the sixth, and got three straight hitters without allowing a run. Once again, the story was the lack of bats. Northfield has a 24' high leftfield fence just 275' away. We didn't scare it all day long because pop ups and weak ground balls were the mode for the day. By the day's end, our 1-6 hitters combined to go 6-30.
