May 2, 2012
By Brent Byler of Fremont High School

The Fremont girl's varsity tennis team played a great match overall to defeat conference foe Central Noble, 4 to 1.  Winning for the Eagles were Rebecca Noyes (#1S), Lexi Skeens (#2S), Morgan Conti (#3S), and Anna Thompson/Itzel Sanchez (#2 D).  Saige Driver and Kasey Renfrew took the only loss, but battle for each point against a #1 doubles team of Paige Lundquist and Rachel VanGessel who is one of the tops in the NECC.

A few noteworthy items...

#2 Singles - Lexi Skeens served 4 consecutive aces, including 2 2nd serve aces in the final game to win the final set 6-4.

#2 Doubles - The tandem of Anna and Itzel picked up their 1st 2 dubs win together.

This improves the varsity record to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the NECC.

On the JV side, Ashton Taner, Riley McCrea, Amber Johnson, Leeah Reidenbach, Kaileigh Folland, and Jordan Lovett won matches to lead the Eagles to a 5-1 win.  The Fremont JV team is now 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the NECC.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WINS LADIES!!!!  The teams travel to PH tomorrow night for a 2nd dual this season with the Panthers in a non-conference match.

* The Angola match is rescheduled for Wednesday, May 9th and will replace Southside.
