Home » Girls' Softball NewsCool and DrizzlingApril 15, 2012 By Al Sherburne of Fremont High SchoolThe Lady Eagles took the long trip to North Manchester to take on non conference Lady Squires. The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead of 3-0 in the first inning with timely hits once again. The Eagles scored another one in the top of the 2nd to stay on top until costly errors gave the Squires their first runs of the game in the 4th inning(2). The Lady Eagles held onto the 6-2 lead as the Squires kept chipping away at our lead. The Lady Eagles held on in the final inning to secure their second win in a row. Even though costly errors cost the Eagles runs the defense stiffened up and held on as the tying run stood stranded at third base. The Lady Eagles were lead by Ryleigh Weidenhamer with a 3-4 performance at the plate and helped her own cause by driving in 3 RBI's. The Eagles spread out 10 hits for the game. Ryleigh Weidenhamer picked up her second win of her young career. The second game was called due to rain as the Lady Eagles were on their way to a 2 game sweep. The Eagles ended their first week of play at a respectable 4-3. Next week they travel to Westview on Monday to play for their first conference win. The bats are back and we plan on keeping them. Great job all round ladies keep it up!!!
