Home » Baseball NewsColdwater TournamentApril 7, 2012 By Justin Bock of Fremont High SchoolGame 1: Gobels (MI) 7, Fremont 6 Fremont got down 6-1, but battled back to within one by scoring four runs in the top of the sixth. The comeback was highlighted by Matt Hoff's two-run triple. After tying the game with another run in the top of the seventh, Gobels won the game in the bottom of the inning. Tanner Wall pitched 5.2 awesome innings to give the Eagles a chance to win. MitchVan Zuilen and Wall led Fremont with two hits apiece. Game 2: Berrien Springs (MI) 4, Fremont 2 The Eagles got another phenomenal pitching performance when Alex Beams threw a complete game on 87 pitches. Unfortunately, we could only manage 5 hits and we never strung anything together. Matt Hoff was the only player with two hits. Game 3: Coldwater (MI) 7, Fremont 5 A third straight difficult loss. Fremont led 5-3 going into the bottom of the sixth, but a bases loaded triple was the key hit that brought Coldwater back. Brock Baker threw a couple great innings in his first varsity outing, and Matt Hoff had two more doubles and three more RBIs. Fremont got down 3-1 but scored two in the 4th and two more in the 6th before Coldwater's big inning.
