Late Carlson Three Sends Lady Eagles into Title Tilt

January 13, 2012
By Neal Frantz of Fremont High School

In a game with 11 lead changes and 5 ties the game winning basket came by Liz Carlson with 25 seconds left when she calmly drained a three from the right wing to give the Fremont Lady Eagles a hard fought 42-40 victory Friday night in the semi-fianls of the NECC Tourney.  The Eagles started slow and were down 7-0 before a quick time-out got them on track.  They changed defenses and played an excellent first half defensively and came out of it tied at 22.  The game was back and forth the whole second half before Carlson's big shot.  Carlson led the Eagles with 13 points 8 rebounds and 2 steals.  Miranda White had 9 points 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots, Kelsey Glendening had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, Kaitlin Kobelak had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Kayla Teegarden had 6 points and 6 rebounds.  In there best defensive effort of the year the ladies held West Noble to 28% shooting.  The team plays for the NECC tourney tomorrow night at 6:00 at Angola High School against the Hornets.  Come out and support the girls.
